Our youngest data scientist
Our
youngest data scientist has really evolved as an artist since we've known her, using the Fathom offices as a sometimes studio when she is not travelling. She is currently experimenting with large-scale figurative works on paper, exploring the tensions between data visualization and young adult folk iconography:
Here Aurora demonstrates some foundation tenets of information design, such as: Keep your labels near the data.
Use color or simple forms to distinguish between groups.
Use hierarchy to emphasize the most compelling stories in the data.
And finally, design for interactivity. In this case, the Quidditch scoreboard is updating itself with a charmed piece of chalk!
We’d love to hear what you’re working on, what you’re intrigued by, and what messy data problems we can help you solve. Find us on the web, drop us a line at hello@fathom.info, or subscribe to our newsletter.
